Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to build my cabin?

A: On average, the construction of your cabin will take about one week. This timeframe can vary slightly depending on our current project queue and the complexity of your cabin’s design. Fill out our enquiry form or call us on 1234 5678 to confirm our current wait time.

Rest assured; we prioritize efficiency without compromising on quality.

Q: Is a building consent necessary?

A: No, building consents are not required for Pacific Cabins. Our designs comply with regulations that allow them to be classified in a way that avoids the additional time and expense of obtaining a building consent, making the process smoother and more cost-effective for you.

Q: Can I customize windows, doors, and interior layouts?

A: Absolutely! We encourage you to personalize your cabin to make it truly yours. Whether it’s rearranging the layout, choosing different window styles, or selecting unique door options, we’re here to make your vision a reality. Just let us know what you’re thinking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your requests.

Q: Do you build Pacific Cabins on trailers?

A: Yes, we do offer cabins built on trailers for those looking for a portable living solution. This option provides flexibility if you anticipate the need to move your cabin in the future.

Q: How does the power connect?

A: Connecting power to your cabin is as straightforward as plugging in a caravan. We provide a lead that you can plug into an existing power source. If you prefer a more permanent solution, an electrician can integrate it directly into your house’s wiring system.

Q: How do I connect water?

A: Water connection is made simple with a hose similar to a garden hose that plugs directly into your cabin. If you have an alternative water source or system you’d like to use, we can accommodate that as well.

Q: How does the gas hot water work?

A: The gas califont system, located at the end of your cabin, is fueled by a standard 9kg gas bottle. It’s an automatic system that activates when you turn on a hot tap, providing instant hot water. You can adjust the temperature directly on the unit or remotely via Wi-Fi from your smartphone for added convenience.

Q: How does the waste water work if we have a toilet and shower?

A: All waste water from your cabin’s amenities is consolidated into a single discharge pipe, which can be connected to your sewer or septic system by a plumber. For those who require it, we can install a macerator pump that allows waste to be transferred through a flexible outlet pipe to your disposal system, providing a versatile solution for various site conditions.

Q: What if I have difficult access to my house or property?

A: We’re experienced in handling challenging delivery scenarios. Depending on the situation, we can employ various methods such as Hiab truck lifts or even helicopter deliveries to ensure your cabin arrives safely and efficiently. If necessary, we can conduct a site visit to assess the best approach for delivery.

Q: Can we go off-grid?

A: Certainly, we offer several off-grid solutions for those looking to reduce their environmental footprint or who are situated in remote locations. From solar panels to generators, we can help you set up a self-sufficient cabin.

Q: Can I pick up my cabin from your yard?

A: If you prefer to handle transportation yourself, you’re welcome to pick up your cabin from one of our three locations. We’ll ensure everything is ready for a smooth pickup, and we’ll assist with loading if needed.

Q: Do you do rent-to-buy?

A: While we don’t provide rent-to-buy options directly, we can assist you in working with finance companies that offer this service. Interest rates start at 9.5%, with terms up to six years and lending amounts up to $70,000, making it a feasible option for many customers. See our finance page for more information.

Q: How do you deliver the cabin to our place?

A: We deliver the cabin directly to your property and securely position it on a sturdy timber post base, elevated approximately 20 cm above the ground for optimal stability. Should the access be challenging, we have the flexibility to either manoeuvre it into place or employ a Hiab truck-mounted crane for precision placement. Rest assured; we can facilitate the lift into virtually any location with ease.
